NEW JERSEY ACCTIVE EMPLOYEE 2019 BUYOUT PACKAGE

NEW JERSEY ACCTIVE EMPLOYEE 2019 BUYOUT PACKAGE

What problem does it solve? IMMEDIATE SAVING TO NJ STATE ACTIVE PAYROLL COST & HELTH BENEFIT PLANS COST & BALANCING 2020 BUDGET What is your solution and who does it apply to? NJ GOVERNOR ADM. OFFERS AN INCENTIVE PACKAGE TO ALL NJ EMPLOYEES CONSIDERING RETIREMENT TO LEAVE NOW RATHER THEN LATER What is the anticipated impact? SUBSTANTIAL SAVING TO COST OF RUNNING NJ GOVERNMENT-REDUCES THE NEED TO RAISE ADDITIONAL TAXES TO NJ RESIDENTS

Points

I agree that employees will go now and not later if a package or incentive is offered. Savings to the state.

we need the buyout by the end of 2019 to insure better fiscal condition for the 2020 NJ state budget--it is a "win-win" for employees anticipating retirement and the taxpayers of NJ

Let's do it! The State is currently hiring contracted outside employees to learn the State government jobs. As a non-confidential employee (contracted hourly employees) they still have all the rights and privileges as a Confidential State employee. Why not offer State workers a buyout. Hire these hourlies employees and let them increase the pension.

The buyout must be coupled with an absolute hiring freeze in order for it to be successful.

Seriously, I would love to retire in 14 years when my daughter graduates high school. I will have 27 years, I have the years not the age, so if I want to leave early, I am still paying into health benefits (provided that option is part of the package), and the state is not paying my salary anymore, and NJ already has my thousands that I have paid into the pension system, so sounds like a good deal for all. If Sweeney is trying to get rid of state workers, this is a good way.

Toni Harris, while I agree with cutting out wasteful spending, I DO NOT agree with privatizing the government. As a government employee I'm held to a higher standard then any employee of the private sector. I'm held accountable for my mistake and must answer to the appointed agency tasked with oversight. Private companies often suffer no consequences for their mistakes and create lawsuits. Privatizing government functions will create a huge liability.

I work for the people of New Jersey. A for profit company does NOT. Some things are worth spending money on and a properly functioning government employing highly reliable and highly trained employees is worth it.
