What problem does it solve? NJ is losing revenue with the countless people that move here and continue to register and insure their vehicles out of state. This holds true for folks that have out of state winter homes but reside in NJ for more than 6 months out of the year. What is your solution and who does it apply to? There are already rules on the books for this. Stricter enforcement and larger penalties might help ease this problem. This applies to all of us because it lends itself to a more equitable distribution of the financial burden of maintaining the roads. What is the anticipated impact? Increased revenue
But there are also a lot of out of state residents that have summer homes here and pay high taxes. The money it would cost for "stricter enforcement" wouldn't be worth the money gained in additional registration fees. Give something for the people to invest in and they wont have to play residency games.
