A Workplace Meditation/Mindfulness Room

A Workplace Meditation/Mindfulness Room

What problem does it solve? A Meditation/Mindfulness Room would be a dedicated quiet private space for employees to use to help reduce stress. It would provide a space for employees to have some quiet time to relax, to meditate, to contemplate, to reflect, to pray and/or mediate while at work. What is your solution and who does it apply to? A private space easily available for all employees to use. What is the anticipated impact? A Meditation/Mindfulness Room provides a quiet space for employees to use to take a mental break from work. Taking a few minutes for oneself can help one focus, bring clarity and concentration, increase attention, greater work productivity and energy and reduce stress. Stress reduction can have a positive impact on the health and well being of employees, increase employee retention, lower absenteeism, higher job satisfaction and improve decision making and creativity. This is a simple idea with much positive impact!

Points

Great idea. Make it un-fluorescent, and peaceful. The space might include wellness related and/or sensory input materials that might serve as guides to meditation, stretching, and other stress reduction techniques. We should encourage these focused, mindful activities away from our desks, which will ultimately increase well-being, focus, and productivity at work!
